JAKARTA – A high-ranking officer from the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) Legal Corps has achieved a prestigious international milestone, bringing honor to the nation on the global stage.
Colonel Chk Dr. Arief Fahmi Lubis, S.H., M.H., M.Han., M.A., Ph.D., has successfully completed the National Security & War Course at the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad, Pakistan, while simultaneously earning a Master of Defence Studies (MSDS) degree.
The defense education program—equivalent to Indonesia’s National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) strategic course—concluded with a solemn graduation ceremony held at the NDU Auditorium in Islamabad.
The graduation ceremony was presided over by Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, HI(M), and was attended by the university’s academic community along with the Defense Attaché of the Republic of Indonesia to Pakistan, Colonel Inf Henru Hidayat Susanto.
Colonel Arief’s accomplishment stands as a point of pride for the Indonesian Army, demonstrating the high international competitiveness and strategic quality of Indonesian military personnel in global defense studies.
During the year-long program, participants underwent intensive training covering defense strategy, national and international security affairs, strategic leadership, and policy-level decision-making processes on both national and global scales. The course also placed a strong emphasis on security dynamics within the South Asian region.
The National Defence University in Islamabad is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious defense institutions in South Asia. For the 2025–2026 Academic Year, the program brought together 272 participants, including 49 international officers representing 26 partner nations.
The participation of Indonesian military officers in international strategic courses like NDU Pakistan plays a pivotal role in bolstering defense diplomacy and bilateral relations between Indonesia and friendly nations. Beyond academic achievements, these international exchanges facilitate high-level networking, cross-cultural understanding, and collaborative strategic problem-solving among defense leaders from around the globe.
